A Bit about the Cincinnati Section of the YCC

The Cincinnati YCC section began in May 1996 with a starter grant from National ACS to address the needs of the Cincinnati area younger chemists and to lead them into successful careers and active roles in the ACS. The aim of the group is to offer a supportive organization for younger chemists and chemical engineers, either as students or professionals. YCC also encourages and facilitates involvement in the local ACS section at-large. Our activities have fun, social components that provide opportunities to meet each other in a relaxed, friendly forum. These include hosting events that are casual, but chemistry-related, to address some interests that younger people would have such as a wine tasting party and financial planning/personal "fundraising".  We also sponsor more technical activities such as talks, discussion groups and company tours. Many chemists have developed personal connections in addition to valuable professional contacts. You are welcome to attend our next YCC function as well as the monthly section at-large meetings.

If you have ideas, suggestions, questions or referrals for speakers/company tours, contact the chair of the committee- Sean Conklin.

YCC Mission

The ACS Younger Chemists Committee was formed to identify the needs and concerns of younger chemists and to develop programs responsive to their needs. Our goals are to:

              1.    Make the ACS relevant to younger chemists
               2.    Increase the involvement of younger chemists in the ACS at all levels.
               3.    Develop mechanisms to integrate younger chemists into the profession

The Younger Chemists Committee is not about age; it's about experience. YCC is for those chemists and chemical engineers who are not yet established in their careers, whether they are just graduating from high school or reevaluating their jobs at the age of 55.
