Dr. Rodolfo Wuilloud obtained his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy of the University of San Luis, Argentina in 2001. After his Ph.D., he did postdoctoral studies primarily with several top-level groups (UC, FDA, etc.). In 2004, he became a research member of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) of Argentina and he is currently working at the Laboratory of Environmental Research and Services of Mendoza (LISAMEN). LISAMEN is a high level reference laboratory focused on applied and basic research projects on Analytical Chemistry and Ecotoxicology. He is developing ecological analytical methods based on the use of green chemistry coincident with state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation and technology for determination of essential and toxic elemental species of environmental and biological studies. He also studies metal species incorporation in life forms and bioremediation which leads him to Metallomics interests.

Dr. Jorgelina Altamirano received her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemisry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy of the National University of San Luis (Argentina) in 2002. She is a research member of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) of Argentina and works at the Laboratory of Environmental Research and Services of Mendoza (LISAMEN) and did postdoctoral studies primarily at the US-Food and Drug Administration, OH, USA. Her research interests involve the development of analytical methodologies by using ionic liquids in extractant/preconcentration for elemental and environmental contaminants determination. Special interests in Metallomics lead her to the development of novel analytical methods for characterization of metal behavior in environment.

Dr. Patricia Smichowski obtained her Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, under the direction of Professor Dr. Carmen Cámara. Since 1982, she is a staff scientist at the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission. Her research specializes in the development and application of atomic absorption and emission spectrometric techniques to nuclear and environmental analysis. She has focused on the determination and speciation analysis of trace metals and metalloids in environmental matrices by employing hydride generation-inductively coupled plasma-optical emission or mass spectrometry and other coupled techniques.

Dr. Luis Martinez obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy, University of San Luis (Argentina) in 1992. He has been professor of Analytical Chemistry at the same University since 1991. He is a researcher of the National Council. Dr. Martinez has overseen many Ph.D. students in research projects regarding trace element determination using state-of-the-art analytical preconcentration techniques. His research interest are focused on the development of extraction and preconcentration techniques for determining metals and organometallic compounds by coupling flow injection to element specific detectors. As Metallomics requires of high expertise in clean-up and preconcentration procedures for organometallics analysis, he is deeply dedicated to this research area.

Dr. Rubén Carón is a researcher of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research of Argentina (CONICET). He is head of the Laboratory of Physiopathology of the Mammary Gland and the Ovary which belongs to the Institute for Experimental Medicine and Biology of Cuyo (IMBECU). His lab specializes in tumor cell biology and the signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms driving the cells to survival or apoptosis, with emphasis in mammary and ovary cancer models. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the National University of San Luis, Argentina in 1992. He received advanced training in endocrinology in Argentina and the United Kingdom, at the University of Edinburgh. In 2001 he studied biochemical mechanisms involved in survival or death of tumor cells at Virginia Commonwealth University as a postdoctoral associate of Dr. Paul Dent. Since 2005, he has been at Mendoza, where he has created the Unity of Cell Culture at IMBECU and is now training postgraduate students in tumor cell biology. His metallomics interests come in studying metal binding proteins because their increasing involvement in aspects of cancer cell proliferation and death.

Dr. Edgardo Donati of the Research and Development Center for Industrial Fermentation (CINDEFI) received his Ph.D. at the National University of La Plata (Argentina). He is the Head of CINDEFI and Research Member of CONICET. He is working on bioremediation of heavy metals including biosorption, bioreduction, bioprecipitation and phytoremediation. He is also researching on the mechanisms of the bioleaching of metal sulfides. The chemical speciation of metal and the interaction between metal and microorganisms or plants are topics involved in all the studies developed into his labs; because of that, Metallomics studies and collaborations could be really important for his research activities.
