Call for Nominations
The 2008 Sigma Xi Research Recognition
Award
The University of Cincinnati Chapter of Sigma Xi, in conjunction with
the Office of the Vice President for Research, will award one prize of
five hundred dollars in recognition of the distinguished research
of younger staff members of our University in fields of science appropriate
to Sigma Xi. A nominee for the Sigma Xi Award must be within 15 years
of his/her terminal degree. A major portion of the distinguished research
should have been performed at our University. Membership in Sigma Xi is
not required. The winner will be requested to present an appropriate public
lecture at some later date.
NOMINATION AND AWARD PROCEDURES
The winner of the Sigma Xi Award will be selected by the Fellows of
the Graduate School upon recommendation of the Awards Committee of the
Graduate Fellows. In the course of arriving at their decision, the Committee
may consult with additional specialists.
Nominations are now being solicited for this award; an
individual may nominate himself/herself or be nominated by someone else.
The nomination
form is included with this announcement.
All nominations (including re-submissions) should be fully documented
and should include evidence of the value or impact of the nominee's work.
It is the responsibility of the nominator to supply supporting letters.
Letters from outside the University community are especially valuable.
When a candidate's name is re-submitted, the nominator can request the
original file in order to update the candidate's accomplishments.
NOTE: The complete nomination package, including letters of
support, must be submitted electronically as a SINGLE PDF file, or it will
be returned to the nominator.
The deadline for nominations for the Sigma Xi Research
Recognition Award is 12:00
noon Monday, December 31, 2007. Nominations should be submitted
