 Karolin Kroening is a 4th year student in Dr. Joe Caruso’s research group (http://www.uc.edu/plasmachem/). She received her master’s degree in 2006 from the University of Bologna, Italy basing her research on hydroxyapatite/chitosan composites for bone substitution and focused on this research working at a German company, Innovent Technologieentwicklung in Jena.
Karolin’s research in the Caruso group has focused on the identification and cytotoxicity of chemical warfare agent degradation products. Now she is moving on to protein phosphorylation studies on cerebral spinal fluid, a study that may help drug development for patients diseased with a hemorrhagic stroke.
Karolin is the recipient of a Henry Hochstetter Prize for excellent performance as a graduate teaching assistant and the Ann P. Villalobos Fellowship for outstanding research performance. |
