Postdoctoral Research, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-Cincinnati (March 31, 1998)

A postdoctoral position is available at USEPAs National Exposure Research Laboratory conducting research on human exposures to environmental contaminants. Under the guidance of a research mentor, the participant will evaluate transfer of environmental contaminants to foods from the surfaces they contact for the purpose of improving assessments of daily dietary intake of young children. Evaluations will be conducted in the laboratory with equipment and experiments designed to determine transfer coefficients for pesticides and other chemical contaminants between a variety of food and surface types. Chemical concentrations will be quantified using state-of-the-art extraction and GC/MS systems. The applicant will benefit from working with a dietary exposure staff with considerable expertise and experience. Applicants should have received a doctoral degree within the last three years, ideally emphasizing food science, food engineering or chemistry. Analytical Chemist (February 23, 1998)

Director of Molecular Modeling Services, University of Cincinnati (January 28, 1998)
The University of Cincinnati Department of Chemistry has an opening for Director of Molecular Modeling Services. This is a permanent service position and is available immediately. Applicants should have a PhD in some area of structural chemistry with extensive experience in molecular modeling (preferably pre- and postdoctoral) and also knowledge of UNIX (preferably including UNIX system administration). Major duties include: direct the molecular modeling facility, maintain and serve as system administrator for a network of Silicon Graphics workstations and associated hardware and software, instruct faculty, postdocs and graduate students in modeling, perform modeling service for occasional users, plan and prepare proposals for upgrades of hardware and software, oversee the work of a molecular modeling teaching assistant, interact with the departmental service crystallographer and director of NMR services and administer the departmental web site.
